Frequently Asked Questions – Avoiding Scams

Have there been instances of scammers impersonating the firm or employees on social media applications?

Yes. Scammers have been using publicly accessible information such as names and photos of employees of The Motley Fool, Inc., Motley Fool Wealth Management, and other affiliated businesses to solicit illegitimate financial transactions, communicate fraudulent investment advice, or retrieve sensitive personal information through WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

They may falsely indicate that we’ve updated our contact information, such as a work phone number, or that we are creating special investment groups for unique investment opportunities.

Notably, recent scamming instances have invited users to a 45-day trial and promised to reimburse investment losses. Neither of these offers are legitimate.
