A little bit more about JP...
My journey with our parent company, The Motley Fool, LLC, began in 2013 as an investing intern. I returned the following year to join the Pro and Options newsletters, which I helped manage for more than four years as a Senior Analyst. In 2018, I joined the regulated side of the business to help start The Motley Fool, LLC's first hedge fund, 1623 Capital, and later became an Analyst with Motley Fool Wealth Management to research and analyze potential companies for our portfolio strategies.
The virtues of saving and making smart money decisions were instilled in me long before I became a financial professional. My mother always emphasized the importance of living below my means, and my father taught me the value of hard work as a third-generation mechanic and small business owner. I like to share that in my “previous life” I was a Ph.D. student who studied investing as a hobby, but over time, I came to realize I would be much happier pursuing a career in investing, and instead made reading about psychology my hobby. My MBA program at University of Scranton helped me develop the additional knowledge I needed to become a professional analyst, as well as my Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
