Meet Sam

Sam Silberstein, CFP®, EA, CSLP®
Wealth Advisor

My philosophy is based not just on maximizing investment returns—it’s about constructing financial solutions for individualized goals. With experience rooted in retirement planning, investment management, general tax planning, and personal finance education, I’m proud of my ability to support my clients holistically.

A little bit more about Sam...

My grandmother was a CPA and liked to joke that “good money handling skills are genetic.” She had open discussions with me about money, how it’s used, and the value behind it. Her willingness to talk with me about finances helped normalize those conversations, and I was encouraged to be disciplined with my own finances too. I wanted to do the same for others, so I put my mind toward a fulfilling career in financial services. After graduating from Temple University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, I jumped into the industry as a brokerage investment professional at Vanguard, where I received both my Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Throughout my following tenure at TIAA and an RIA startup, SLP Wealth, I advised clients on their retirement and income plans, other non-retirement saving opportunities, education funding and loans, mitigating longevity risk, and preserving household wealth. Continued education has also remained a passion of mine—which is why I earned my CFP® certification and became an Enrolled Agent (EA) in the prior six years before joining Motley Fool Wealth Management. I am also a 2025 Level III candidate in the CFA® Program.

I feel that I’m at my best when my work gives me the opportunity to help others find their path to financial freedom. And Fool Wealth, I get to help our clients pursue success with the conviction that Foolish fundamentals will hopefully deliver over time. As we like to say: it’s not timing the market, but time in the market that matters for your future.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my free time, I teach night classes for current CFP® program students, focusing on the core curriculum of concepts set by the industry standard (The CFP Board). My goal there is to help provide the tools for the next generation of financial planners and empower themselves to progress this industry forward. Outside of that, you can find me either planning my next travel adventure or figuring out what should be for dinner tonight.

Do you have any hidden talents most people don’t know about you?

I was an amateur breakdancer in college. Being burnt out from competitive weightlifting and the long D1 rugby season, dancing offered me a freedom of escape that was totally unexpected and something I will cherish forever.

What was your very first job or work experience?

I grew up within walking distance to the historic district within Philadelphia. So of course, my first job was a customer service role at the National Constitution Center! I ended up working there all throughout high school, and I got to see all the new exhibits for free. I personally felt that made me the coolest one in the class :)
