A little bit more about Tamsin...
Long before my career in business operations, I studied Theater at the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University, which led me to work in education at The Kennedy Center and Shakespeare Theater Company. The skills that made me an excellent theatrical stage manager—communication, bringing order to chaos, and problem-solving—translated well into the world of business when I became an Office Dynamo at our parent company, The Motley Fool LLC, in 2012. In this role, I wore many hats (or jester caps, if you will), from planning internal company events to coordinating wellness programs and implementing a Foolish office culture strategy.
My 11 years with The Motley Fool, LLC launched me into an exciting leadership trajectory, with roles such as Executive Project Manager, Product Manager, and Director of International Business Operations. Since 2023 I’ve been supporting business operations at Fool Wealth, where I work closely with our executive leaders to streamline and execute our strategic vision.
Over time I’ve learned an incredible amount about the stock market thanks to my fellow Fools. They helped me discover the importance of not only investing, but understanding businesses and a long-term perspective.
Another important influence on the way I think about money was my mother. As a kid, to get our allowance, we had to show her a balanced bank book tracking all of our spending. We also had to put a portion of each month’s allowance aside into savings. This often resulted in raising couch cushions or looking under the bed for missing change! Her lessons taught me the importance of savings and tracking expenses from an early age, and I carry that wisdom with me to this day.
